FANSHAWE CURLING HEADING TO 2018 CCAA NATIONAL FINALS

LONDON, Ont. - The Fanshawe women's and men's curling teams have both advanced to the championship final at the CCAA national tournament hosted by Curling Canada in Leduc, Alta.

The women's team finished in first place after round robin play with a record of 6-1. In the semi-final against MacEwan, the Falcons won 6-5 in extra ends to advance to the national final against Camosun College. The final will be played today at 2 p.m. ET. The Fanshawe women's team is comprised of skip Kaitlyn Poirier (Sioux Lookout), vice Erin White (Chatham), second Samantha Lees (St. Thomas), lead Isabelle Allan (Carp) and alternate Angelica Muscedere (Bright's Grove).

The Falcons men's curling squad finished their round robin with a record of 5-2, good for second place. They then defeated Northern Alberta Institute of Technology by a score of 12-4 to guarantee themselves a national medal. They will face the undefeated Douglas Royals in the Final at 2 p.m. ET today. The men's team is made up of skip Charlie Richard (Woodstock), vice Logan James (Brantford), second Tyler Twining (Owen Sound), lead Brady St. Louis (St. Marys), and alternate Brandon Twining (Owen Sound).
