The St. Clair College women's softball team is off and running early in the OCAA season picking up a pair of wins Friday in Kitchener against Conestoga College and then another doubleheader sweep of defending provincial champion Durham College at the campus diamond Sunday afternoon.

The Saints won 13-2 and 10-8 Friday night over Conestoga College at Kitchener's Budd Park.

Rookie Olivia Elliott (Oakville) picked up her first collegiate win in the opener pitching six strong innings giving up a pair of earned runs on six hits while striking out five batters. Second-year catcher Alexandra Senft (Windsor/Walkerville) had three hits and two RBIs while Allison Telfer (Windsor/FJ Brennan) had two hits and four RBIs.

In the nightcap, St. Clair delivered a win to second-year pitcher Sara Stiller (Windsor/Holy Names) who struck out seven batters in seven innings of work. Megan Lumley (Windsor/Holy Names) and Allison Telfer each had three hits to lead the Saints attack offensively.

In a rematch of last fall's provincial championship final St. Clair exacted a little revenge Sunday afternoon picking up wins of 5-2 and 3-2 over Durham College.

Elliott had four strikeouts over seven innings for St. Clair but surrendered no earned runs spreading out five hits and a walk. Sarah Bondy (Amherstburg/General Amherst) had two doubles and RBI to lead the Saints at the plate.

Completing the weekend sweep was St. Clair pitcher Telfer who also went the distance only needing to strikeout one batter while surrendering only two earned runs, six hits and two walks. Rookie third baseman Jordan Taylor (LaSalle/St. Thomas of Villanova) had the decisive blow for the Saints lacing a shot over the right fielder's head for a two-run triple in the third inning giving her team a 3-0 lead that they never relinquished.

The Saints go on the road to face Fanshawe College (0-2) Tuesday night in London.
