ST. CLAIR 7, SENECA 2

TORONTO - The St. Clair College women's softball team went a perfect 4-0 on the weekend in the GTA after taking a doubleheader Saturday at Durham College (Oshawa) and then winning another pair on Sunday at Seneca College (North York). With the wins St. Clair finished the regular season with a 20-4 record atop OCAA standings claiming the pennant.

The Saints defeated Durham Saturday by scores of 11-5 and 16-2. In the opening game St. Clair pounded 16 hits including two home runs from Megan Lumley (Windsor/Holy Names) who took one over the fence and added another inside the park round tripper as part of her three-hit game. Sarah Bondy (Amherstburg/General Amherst) also had three hits including a double and a triple for St. Clair who got a complete game win from pitcher Olivia Elliott (Oakville) on the mound.

In the second game the Saints put up another 18 hits with Lumley going 5-for-5 with another home run and a triple. Alexandra Senft (Windsor/Walkerville) and Jordan Taylor (Lasalle/St. Thomas of Villanova) each also had three hits in the game for the Lady Saints with Sara Stiller (Windsor/Holy Names) earning the win on the mound.

On Sunday, St. Clair bested Seneca with scores of 7-3 and 11-0 to round out their season. Stiller pitched to the win but got help from Elliott and Allison Telfer (Windsor/FJ Brennan) in relief. Bondy, Taylor, Hayley Pearce (Windsor/Vincent Massey) and Madisyn Clark (Leamington) all had two hits in the opening game.

In the final game, Elliott pitched the opening five innings for the win with Stiller closing out the final frame in the mercy shortened affair. Bondy clobbered four more hits with Jordyn Clark (Leamington) adding three hits of her own for the Saints.

St. Clair now awaits their opening round game time on Friday at the OCAA provincial championship hosted by Humber College at the Brampton Fairgrounds.
