OCAA WEEKLY AWARDS

TORONTO - The following have been recognized by the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) for their accomplishments during the seven-day period ending Sunday, Feb. 4.

OCAA weekly awards are presented by belairdirect.

MEN'S BASKETBALL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Brandon Halliburton, Durham
Second-year guard Brandon Halliburton (Brampton) scored a season-best 33 points and was 8-of-12 shooting beyond the three-point arc in Durham's 95-77 win at Fleming on Jan. 31. He followed up this effort with a 22-point performance in Durham's 81-66 victory at St. Lawrence on Feb. 2. Halliburton has hit double figures in scoring in 15 of 16 games, and is averaging 22.7 points per game, currently fifth-best in the OCAA.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Katie Flansbury, Algonquin
Fifth-year forward Katie Flansbury (Ottawa) scored over 20 points in back-to-back victories. She scored a team-best 24 points in Algonquin's 77-70 home win over Seneca on Feb. 2. The following day, she contributed a game-high 23 points in Algonquin's 83-79 victory over Centennial. Both wins came against teams ahead of Algonquin in the standings. Flansbury is among the league-leaders averaging 18.3 points per game.

Liam Gray, Georgian
Third-year setter Liam Gray (Barrie) helped three of his teammates hit double digits in kills in Georgian's four-set home victory over George Brown on Jan. 31, which clinched first place in the East Division. Gray's 42 assists helped Ryan DeBruyn (Ottawa) earn a match-high 14 kills, while Grizzlies Jake Edwards (Barrie) and Matt Kerr (Wingham) each had 11. Gray is the only OCAA player averaging over 10 assists per set.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Stephanie Dementjev, Fleming
Stephanie Dementjev (Haliburton) helped put the skids on a seven-match losing streak in Fleming's five-set win over Seneca on Feb. 3. Dementjev contributed a team-high 15 points on 11 kills, three service aces and one stuff block. She now has an even 100 points for the season, a career-best plateau for the third-year left side. Fleming (3-12) is fighting La Cité (3-12) for the final playoff berth in the East Division.

TEAM OF THE WEEK
Humber, Men's Volleyball
The Humber Hawks are winners of a dozen straight matches following a key four-set victory at Redeemer on Feb. 2 and a straight sets win over Sheridan on Feb. 4. First-year outside hitter Dylan Devecseri (Italy) contributed 34 points in the two matches. A litmus test is on the horizon for Humber (13-2) when it hosts undefeated Fanshawe (15-0) on Valentine's Day in the regular season finale for both teams.
