OCAA SELECTS 2017-18 PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP HOSTS

OCAA SELECTS 2017-18 PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP HOSTS

TORONTO - The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) has selected hosts for its 2017-18 OCAA provincial championships.

OCAA members went through a bid process for hosting OCAA regional tournaments and championships which received final approval at the OCAA Annual General Meetings in St. Catharines last week.

Hosts in six OCAA league sports automatically qualify for the eight-team championship tournaments. This includes Fleming College (Peterborough) in Men's Soccer, Cambrian College (Sudbury) in Women's Soccer, Georgian College (Barrie) in Men's Volleyball, Centennial College (Scarborough) in Women's Volleyball, Niagara College (Welland) in Men's Basketball and Humber College (Etobicoke) in Women's Basketball.

Women's Rugby Sevens will be hosted by Fleming; Men's Baseball will be hosted by St. Clair College (Windsor); and Women's Softball will be hosted by Humber. The host colleges of these three OCAA league sports do not automatically qualify to the championship.

There is no predetermined host for Men's Rugby, with the top-seeded teams playing host to the OCAA gold and bronze medal matches.

Playing host to OCAA tournament sports championships (either on or off campus) include Sault College (Sault Ste. Marie) in both Golf and Curling, Fanshawe College (London) in Cross Country, Mohawk College (Hamilton) in Badminton, and Redeemer University College (Ancaster) in Indoor Soccer.

Centennial and the University of Toronto Mississauga play host to Badminton regionals, while Fanshawe, Redeemer and Seneca College (North York) host Indoor Soccer regionals. Conestoga College (Kitchener) will also play host a pair of Indoor Soccer regionals at Seneca.
