TORONTO - The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) has selected hosts for its 2018-19 OCAA provincial championships.
OCAA members went through a bid process for hosting OCAA regional tournaments and championships which received final approval at the OCAA Annual General Meeting in Peterborough last week.
Hosts in six OCAA league sports automatically qualify for the eight-team championship tournaments. This includes George Brown College (Toronto) in Men's Soccer; Seneca College (Toronto) in Women's Soccer; Humber College (Toronto) in Men's Volleyball; Cambrian College (Sudbury) in Women's Volleyball; Georgian College (Barrie) in Men's Basketball; and St. Lawrence College (Kingston) in Women's Basketball.
Women's Rugby Sevens will be co-hosted by Humber and Sheridan College (Oakville); Men's Baseball will be hosted by Durham College (Oshawa); and Women's Softball will be hosted by Conestoga College (Kitchener). The host colleges of these three OCAA league sports do not automatically qualify to the championship.
There is no predetermined host for Men's Rugby, with the top-seeded teams playing host to the OCAA gold and bronze medal matches.
Playing host to OCAA tournament sports championships (either on or off campus) include Fanshawe College (London) in Golf; Centennial College (Toronto) in Cross Country; Mohawk College (Hamilton) in Curling; the University of Toronto Mississauga in Badminton; and Humber in Indoor Soccer.
George Brown and Conestoga play host to Badminton regionals, while Redeemer University College, Seneca, Conestoga and Lakehead University Orillia host Indoor Soccer regionals.
OCAA members will host two Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association during the 2018-19 varsity season. Seneca is home to Cross Country, and Niagara College will host Women's Volleyball.
belairdirect remains the title sponsor for the OCAA soccer and basketball provincials, and the presenting sponsor of the other OCAA championships.
