SARNIA, Ont. - With the construction of Lambton College's Athletics & Fitness Complex nearing completion, the College is pleased to announce the appointment of a new manager to oversee the facility's day to day operations.
College officials recently announced that Greg Stewart, a current professor in the Sports & Recreation Management program has been named Manager, Athletics & Recreation for the new Complex.
In an announcement to the College community, Rob Kardas, Vice President, Student Success & Campus Services, described Stewart as an invaluable resource providing input on the design of the new Complex and assisting in the creation of the facility's operational plan.
Stewart will oversee various aspects of the new building including the creation and delivery of programming for intercollegiate sports, fitness, health, wellness and recreation. Examples of programs currently being developed include fitness classes, personal training, and intramural sports. Additionally, Stewart will also work in a community outreach capacity working to establish partnerships and joint programming opportunities.
A member of the Lambton College team since 2014, Stewart has also worked for Wilfrid Laurier University (WLU) in a similar role overseeing programming at the Laurier Brantford Campus, serving just over 3,500 students, staff, faculty, and community members. During his time at Laurier Brantford, Stewart was part of a team involved in the design and development of the WLU/YMCA Athletics Facility project. As part of his involvement, Stewart led the development of a student leadership staffing program and elite summer sport camps for local youth. He also advocated to gain Laurier Brantford Ontario Collegiate Athletic Association (OCAA) membership and served as both the Vice President of the Ontario College Committee on Campus Recreation and Senior Men's OCAA Basketball Convenor.
Stewart holds a Business Administration diploma from Loyalist College, where he played varsity soccer. Following graduation, Stewart attended Brock University, where he received a Bachelor of Sport Management (Honours) degree, and then continued on to the University of Windsor, where he attained a Master of Human Kinetics degree with a specialty in Sport Management.

The new facility is expected to be open for students when they return to the campus in September, with the official grand opening currently scheduled to take place on Thursday, Oct. 18.
