ROBERTSON NAMED CCAA GOLF COACH OF THE YEAR

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. - Colin Robertson of Fanshawe College has been named the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Golf Coach of the Year.

He received the award this evening at the 2018 CCAA Golf National Championships banquet, hosted by Medicine Hat College in Medicine Hat, Alta.

"It is great to see the impact Colin has had on his student-athletes success this year in the OCAA and CCAA," said Jim Knight, CCAA Golf Convenor.

Robertson guided two of his student-athletes – Alyssa Stoddart and Braydon White – to individual titles at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Championships. Fanshawe also captured its first ever women's team title and earned a silver medal in the men's team event.

Robertson, who teaches in the Golf and Club Management program at Fanshawe, has created the Robertson Golf Academy with the goal of helping his student-athletes improve their game and reach their personal goals. With his direction, Fanshawe has also installed two state-of-the-art golf simulators across two different campuses for training student-athletes.

At Fanshawe, Robertson makes every effort possible to understand each student's learning style and adapt. His goal is to make the Falcons Golf Program one of the best in the country.

With his passion and progress as a golf coach, instructor, professor and advocate, Robertson also hopes to coach for Golf Canada with the National teams.

"His approach to his student-athletes is that they improve everyday whether it be on the course or in class and his commitment in this approach, along with trying to grow the sport, is evidenced in this year's results," said Knight.

CCAA Coach of the Year recipients receive a customized ring provided by Jostens Canada, the Official Ring Supplier of the CCAA Championship Awards Banquet.
