TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL (CONNER WATT) SILVER FOR HUMBER AT 2018 GOLF NATIONALS

TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL (CONNER WATT) SILVER FOR HUMBER AT 2018 GOLF NATIONALS

MEDICINE HAT, Alta - If it were any other year, the incredible effort by the Humber Hawks would have netted them national golf gold, but give the OCAA champion Hawks full credit for their silver medal performance.

It was just one of those times when a team outplayed the whole field, and that came in the name of Boomerang d'André-Laurendeau. Humber actually bettered the eventual champions from Quebec on the final day, but were unable to make up any significant ground.

Boomerang finished up with a team score of 14-under, while the Hawks checked in at five-under as a team. To clearly indicate how good these two teams were, the third-place team carded a 19-over for the tournament, 24 strokes behind the Hawks' second-place finish.

On the individual side, Conner Watt was spectacular, capturing the individual silver medal with a score of eight-under, after posting a one-under today. He finished five strokes behind the winner, and only a single stroke ahead of the bronze medalist.

Luke McLean was the best Hawk on the day, as his four-under score vaulted him to a seventh-place spot.
