TORONTO - Patrick Au, head coach of the Humber Hawks men's basketball program for the last two seasons, has stepped down from his role with the team. Au moved into the top position of one of the most storied collegiate basketball programs in Canada at the start of the 2016-17 season after spending six years on the bench as a valued assistant.

This past season, he led the Hawks to a 15-5 regular season record and an OCAA silver medal, losing to the eventual CCAA national champion Seneca Sting. Although they lost their first two games at the CCAA national championship in Laval, Que., they rallied to end the season on a high note by knocking off Lakeland College (ACAC).

Over his two years at the helm of the Hawks, he registered an overall mark of 37-13 in OCAA and CCAA league and playoff competition.

As an assistant, he was a key figure in helping the Hawks to the CCAA national crown in 2014-15. The Hawks returned to the CCAA title game the very next year, snaring the silver medal.

"Patrick was a key contributor to a number of great Humber teams over the past eight years," said Humber Director of Athletics Ray Chateau. "We wish Pat all the best and look forward to his ongoing support of the Hawks."

Au, citing personal reasons, which include a number of commitments away from the court, is sure to return to the game at some point.
