ST. CLAIR 108, CONESTOGA 80

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair College men's basketball team evened their OCAA West Division record to 3-3 after a 108-80 victory over Conestoga College (Kitchener) at the SportsPlex Saturday afternoon.

Having not faced Conestoga since 1993, the Saints were not hospitable in welcoming them back to the campus and led 25-19 after the first quarter. A 10-0 flurry at the end of the first half allowed St. Clair to take a 52-32 lead at break.

Conestoga mounted a 12-2 run in the third quarter but could not really cut into an already large lead as the Saints cruised to the victory down the stretch. St. Clair shot the ball well all game finishing with a gaudy 62 per cent from the field including nine makes from beyond the arc. Conestoga also surrendered 32 points to the Saints on 23 turnovers.

Third-year swing player Lance Drummonds (Hamilton) scored a game-high 25 points adding four rebounds and four steals for the Saints. Gil Atencio (Panama City, Panama) played well for St. Clair scoring 22 points while dominating the paint with eight rebounds and three blocked shots. Will Lara-Caston (Windsor/JL Forster) scored 14 points to go with four assists for the Saints with Jermaine Lynch (Windsor/JL Forster) chipping in with 12 points and five assists of his own.

Conestoga's Shequell Gilgeous-Glasgow (Kitchener) scored 21 points adding 10 rebounds for the double-double in a losing effort.
