PATHMANATHAN IS FINDING COACHING SUCCESS IN ALL AREAS OF BASKETBALL

OSHAWA, Ont. - Deluxshan Pathmanathan has been the lead assistant coach and recruitment coordinator for the Durham Lords men's basketball team since 2015-16. During his time with the Lords he has helped to develop the program and players.

While remaining in his position with the Lord's basketball team, Pathmanathan has also taken on other responsibilities. This summer he will be an assistant coach for the U14 Ontario provincial team. The team will be competing against other provincial level teams and will travel internationally to compete against other countries. Pathmanathan was selected by the Ontario Basketball Association (OBA) to coach with its elite high-performance programs.

In order for Pathmanathan to achieve the success he has had in coaching, he took part in numerous coaching opportunities that the OBA presented during the school year. While coaching the Lords he was also the head coach for the Centre for Performance in Durham Region. This is a national program that is designed to develop athletes and prepare them to compete at the international level.

This August he will is also be a part of the Ontario Summer Games. He will be the head coach of the Kawartha Region team, which includes players from the Scarborough, Durham and Kawartha regions.

Pathmanathan has also been provided with opportunities to coach in the Canada Basketball Junior Academy. These opportunities have led him to an invitation to assist with analytics for the Canadian national team tryouts at the U17/U18 age groups this past March.

"I am very thankful for the opportunities that I have been provided with," said Pathmanathan. "Both coach Desmond Rowley at Durham College and coach Jason Dawkins at the Ontario Basketball Association have provided me with a lot of insight over the years. My wife has also been a huge part of my success, allowing me to spend so much of my time with basketball."

Pathmanathan is currently pursuing his NCCP Level 3 coaching certification and his FIBA license.

The Durham Lords wish Pathmanathan good luck over the summer and are excited to have him back next season.
