FANSHAWE 2, ST. CLAIR 1

LONDON, Ont. - The St. Clair College men's soccer team wrapped up their OCAA regular season schedule with close loss to the top-ranked Fanshawe Falcons on Wednesday evening in London, Ont.

The Falcons defeated the Saints by a score of 2-1. In an evenly played match, it was scoreless at the half with both teams having six shot attempts on goal.

Fanshawe took the lead in the 15th minute and went up 2-0 in the 81st minute. The Saints made it interesting scoring in the 90th minute on a goal by Chris Spadafora (LaSalle).

St. Clair almost tied the game in injury time hitting the crossbar on the final play of the game. The Saints played this match shorthanded with five starters sitting due to suspension or having two yellow cards on the season. If they had picked up a third yellow in this match they would have missed the first playoff game.

Fanshawe is currently ranked second in Ontario and fifth in Canada. With the loss St. Clair ends their regular season schedule with a record of 5-3-2 in third place in the OCAA West Division.

St. Clair will host the second-place team in the East Division on Sunday afternoon in a playoff match at 3:30 p.m. at the Main Campus Field with the winner advancing to the OCAA championship in Peterborough, Ont., the following weekend.
