NATIONAL GOLD AND BRONZE MEDALS CLAIMED BY OCAA MEN'S SOCCER CLUBS

GOLD MEDAL MATCH: Humber Hawks 1, Indiens d'Ahuntsic 0

A goal in the 27th minute was all that was needed as the Humber Hawks earned the 2018 CCAA national gold medal with a 1-0 win over the Indiens d'Ahuntsic.

Both teams battled in an intense, but clean, 90 minute match in front of the rest of the competing teams in the championship at the Terry Fox Sports Complex in Cornwall, P.E.I.

The poor weather conditions left the field prior to kickoff to set up a beautiful end to the national championship

Stavros Badunas was named the Player of the Game for the Humber Hawks, while Marc-Antoine Chaudry was the recipient from the Indiens d'Ahuntsic.

BRONZE MEDAL MATCH: Sheridan Bruins 6, Capilano Blues 2

The Sheridan Bruins erased a two-goal Capilano Blues lead as they claimed the CCAA national bronze medal on Saturday in Cornwall, P.E.I. at the Terry Fox Sports Complex.

After Capilano Blues goals in the 15th and 18th minutes, the Sheridan Bruins took a 3-2 lead into the halftime break after goals in the 23rd, 26th and 42nd minutes.

Insurance goals in the 62nd and 68th minutes by Sheridan led it to a 5-2 victory, and the CCAA national bronze medal.

The Player of the Game for the Bruins was Michael Krzeminkski, while Omar Rostant was chosen for the Capilano Blues.

BRONZE MEDAL SEMI-FINAL: Sheridan Bruins 2, Langara Falcons 1 

In a spirited match to begin the day, the Sheridan Bruins and Langara Falcons battled for a spot in Saturday's Bronze Medal Game.

After a scoreless opening half, the Bruins struck first, in the 47th minute, to take the 1-0 lead.

With time ticking away on the clock, the Falcons tied the match in the 77th to knot the game at 1-1.

After getting into penalty trouble, the Bruins played with desperation in the final minutes of the game. Ultimately they took the lead in the 90th with only seven players left remaining on the field and held on for the victory.

With the win, the Bruins advance to the Bronze Medal Game on Saturday where they will take on the Capilano Blues.

The Player of the Game for the Bruins was Anthony Wright, while James Miller was recognized for the Falcons.

GOLD MEDAL SEMI-FINAL: Humber Hawks 4, NAIT Ooks 3 (PK) 

In what will go down as one of the more exciting matches in recent years, the Humber Hawks outlasted the NAIT Ooks in penalty kicks.

The Hawks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after goals in the seventh and 21st minutes, before NAIT scored in the 23rd to cut the lead to one.

With no scoring for most of the second half, the Ooks finally tied the match in the 83rd minute and proceeded to take the lead in the 89th after a penalty kick.

The Hawks would not give up, storming up the field in the 90th to tie the game at 3-3, sending it to penalty kicks, which they ultimately won.

The Hawks advance to the Gold Medal Game at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday versus the Indiens d'Ahuntsic, while the Ooks will return to the field on Friday at 4:30 p.m. in a Bronze Medal Semi-Final match versus the Capilano Blues.

Nicholas Machado was the Player of the Game for the Hawks while Matthew McLean was recognized for the Ooks.

GOLD MEDAL SEMI-FINAL: Indiens d'Ahuntsic 2, Sheridan Bruins 1 (PK)

The final match of the day was another exciting one as the Indiens d'Ahuntsic outlasted the Sheridan Bruins to earn the victory in penalty kicks.

After a scoreless first half, the Bruins took the lead in the 47th minute to gain the momentum.

With time ticking down, the Indiens pressed to tie the match, which they successfully did off a header from a free kick to the left of the Bruins goalkeeper in the 87th minute.

With the victory, the Indiens punch their ticket to the Gold Medal Game on Saturday where they will take on the Humber Hawks.

The Sheridan Bruins will take on the Langara Falcons at 2 p.m. in the first Bronze Medal Semi-Final on Friday.

The Players of the Game for the match were Yvenson André for the Indiens and Francis Aneyaw of the Bruins.

GOLD MEDAL QUARTER-FINAL: Humber Hawks 2, Langara Falcons 1 (PK)

Both the Humber Hawks (Etobicoke, Ont.) and the Langara Falcons (Vancouver, B.C.) battled in a close match on Wednesday in Cornwall, P.E.I.

The Hawks jumped out to a lead just before the halftime whistle blew when they found the back of the net in the 42 minute.

The Falcons would not surrender and eventually tied the game at 1-1 in the second half. The game would end in a tie at full-time, sending the match to penalty kicks.

After a lengthy battle in penalty-kicks, the Hawks outlasted the Falcons to earn the victory.

Karman Singh was the Player of the Game for the Hawks, while Kevin Monk was chosen for the Langara Falcons.

GOLD MEDAL QUARTER-FINAL: Sheridan Bruins 2, Capilano Blues 0

The final match of the day featured the Sheridan Bruins (Oakville, Ont.) taking on the Capilano Blues (North Vancouver, B.C.).

A cool, crisp P.E.I. night was the scene as the Sheridan Bruins jumped ahead of the Blues late in the first half.

With the Blues pressing, the Bruins secured the victory with a goal in the 87th minute to pick up the win in an intense match featuring two passionate teams.

The Players of the Game in the match were Eric Swanson (Capilano Blues) and Manuel Morgado (Sheridan Bruins).
