TORONTO - The following have been named Ontario Colleges
Athletic Association (OCAA) basketball student-athletes of the week
for the period ending Sunday, Feb. 5.
MALE: Mark Perrin, Humber
Humber second-year guard Mark Perrin (Toronto)
came up with his best offensive output of the season in a key 84-73
win over Sheridan on Feb. 1. Perrin had a game-high 29 points along
with nine rebounds, two assists and one steal. The win avenged an
earlier loss to Sheridan, and puts Humber (11-2) on the fast track
in the race for a top-two finish and berth into the OCAA
championship tournament. Perrin scored another 10 points in a 78-66
win at Redeemer on Feb. 4.
FEMALE: Kelly Killoran,
Fleming-Peterborough
Fleming-Peterborough second-year guard Kelly Killoran (Sarnia,
Ont.) broke the OCAA record for three-point field goals in a single
season in a 75-71 loss to Georgian on Feb. 4. Her six
three-pointers gives her 48 for the season, surpassing the previous
record of 45 set by Sara Maybee of Loyalist in 2008-09. Killoran is
the top scorer on her team averaging 14.1 per game.
FEMALE: Samantha Evans, Seneca
Seneca fourth-year point guard Samantha Evans
(Scarborough, Ont.) scored a game-high 21 points and was one steal
short of a double-double in a 62-57 win over George Brown on Feb.
6. Evans also had seven rebounds and six assists. With the win,
Seneca (10-1) has a two-win advantage over third-place George
Brown, with the top two teams in the OCAA East region receiving
byes into the OCAA championship tournament. Seneca has won two
straight after opening the season with eight consecutive wins.
