MOHAWK 83, ST. CLAIR 56

HAMILTON, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's basketball team lost 83-56 Saturday night in Hamilton, Ont., surrendering second place in the OCAA's West Division.

The Lady Saints started slow falling behind 17-11 after the opening quarter but responded in the second quarter to only trail Mohawk 31-29 at halftime.

St. Clair stayed within striking distance during the third quarter but were undone in the game's final frame giving up 29 points as the game spiraled out of control.

Neither team shot particularly well from the field but Mohawk scored 28 points off 26 Saints turnovers and enjoyed a 35-13 advantage in bench scoring. Although Mohawk didn't make a high percentage they did convert 12 triples in the game to just three for St. Clair.

Three St. Clair players reached double figures led by Shannon Kennedy (Windsor, Ont./St. Joseph's) who scored 14 points to go with seven rebounds. Shianne Riggan (Kitchener, Ont.) and Nicole Tamm (Windsor, Ont./Holy Names) each also scored 12 points apiece for the Saints.

Mohawk's Stefani Hrymak (Hamilton, Ont.) scored a game-high 18 points in the win.
