ST. CLAIR 84, CONESTOGA 47

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's basketball team upped their record to 4-2 with an 84-47 win over Conestoga College (Kitchener) Saturday afternoon at the SportsPlex in OCAA West Division league play.

In a first ever meeting of the schools in league play the Lady Saints jumped all over the visitors early and led 27-6 after the opening frame. St. Clair moved into halftime with a comfortable 45-19 advantage and increased it to 70-33 going into the fourth quarter.

The Saints were sterling from beyond the arc making 14 triples but a sizeable advantage in offensive rebounding (15-6) also led to 16 second-chance points. Thirty-five points off the bench allowed St. Clair to balance their playing time also.

Rookie guard Jana Kucera (Chatham) scored 15 points for the Saints adding five assists to lead her team in the win. Shannon Kennedy (Windsor/St. Joseph's) just missed a double-double scoring 14 points to go with nine rebounds and four assists for St. Clair. Nicole Tamm (Windsor/Holy Names) and Marissa Mara (Sarnia) each also reached double figures with 12 points apiece for St. Clair. Tamm filled up her stat line with eight rebounds, three assists, four steals and two blocked shots.
