ST. CLAIR 85, U OF T MISSISSAUGA 67

WINDSOR, Ont. - In their first ever meeting with the new OCAA member, the St. Clair College women's basketball team prevailed 85-67 over the University of Toronto Mississauga Sunday afternoon at the SportsPlex.

The Saints jumped out to a 24-20 advantage after the first quarter and slightly increased their lead to 42-37 by halftime. St. Clair continued to increase their stranglehold in the second half with as much as a 19-point gap (72-53) early in the fourth quarter.  The Saints scored 18 points on the short benched visitors off 18 turnovers and enjoyed a 23-15 upper hand in points off the pine.

Rookie guard Jana Kucera (Chatham) led all scorers with 23 points and dished out six assists for St. Clair. Point guard Anna Ulicny (Tecumseh/St. Anne) had another fine game scoring 18 points and added three assists for the Lady Saints. Logan Kucera (Chatham) had 12 points with Jaimi Chauvin (Wallaceburg) also reaching double figures with 10 points for St. Clair.

Toronto's Trisha-Ann Vo (Milton) led her team with 18 points in the loss.
