ST. CLAIR'S KUCERA TWINS SIGN PROFESSIONALLY IN EUROPE

WINDSOR, Ont. – Recent St. Clair College graduates Logan and Jana Kucera have moved into the basketball professional ranks after signing last week to play for Niksic 1995 in Montenegro who play in the Women's Adriatic Basketball Association (WABA).

The Kucera's each played four seasons for St. Clair College from 2017-22 while completing three academic programs with Distinction in Autism and Behavioural Science, Educational Support and Fitness and Health Promotion receiving OCAA provincial acknowledgement as All-Academic performers each year. They helped the Saints to the OCAA provincial championship each season where they earned three silver medals and the program's first-ever win at the CCAA national tournament in 2019.

Logan was named an OCAA West All-Rookie team selection in 2017-18, a two-time OCAA West All-Star team selection (2019-20 and 2021-22), and a two-time OCAA Championship All-Star (2019-20 and 2021-22) as well as being recognized nationally as a two-time CCAA Academic All-Canadian (2019-20 and 2021-22). She was the Saints Rookie of the Year (2017-18), a two-time Saints MVP (2019-20 and 2021-22) and led her squad in scoring during the 2019-20 season finishing her career with the third most points in program history at 1,488 total.

Jana was three-time OCAA West All-Star selection (2018-19 and 2021-22 First Team, 2019-20 Second Team and a three-time OCAA Championship All-Star Selection (2018-19, 2019-20 and 2021-22). Nationally she won three CCAA Academic All-Canadian Awards (2018-19, 2019-20 and 2021-22) and was a Second Team All-Star Selection at the national championship tournament in 2018-19 after leading the province in scoring that season. Jana was the Saints Coaches Award winner in 2017-18 and the team's leading scorer and MVP in 2018-19 which led to a St. Clair College Al Hoffman Athlete of the Year for Outstanding Achievement Award. This past year she won the Mason MacDonald Graduating Athlete of the Year Award. Jana finished her career as the Saints second leading scorer with 1,845 career points and the third best average (16.3 PPG) in program history.

The 5-foot-6 guards are regarded as the most highly decorated St. Clair women's basketball players to come through the when combining individual and team accomplishments.

Saints head coach Andy Kiss beamed with pride on the announcement by saying, "We are very proud of Logan and Jana as they take the next step in their basketball careers. They proved to be generational talents in our program and were highly instrumental in our team success during their years at St. Clair. They embodied the true meaning of student-athlete having earned multiple CCAA All Academic awards."

Kiss continued, "Those who know Jana and Logan understand their achievements on the basketball court are surpassed by their outstanding character as women.  We will follow their careers with Niksic 1995 and wish them nothing but the absolute very best."

Niksic 1995 just left the Prva A professional league to enter the WABA which has been existence since 2001. Commonly referred to as the Adriatic League, the WABA features ten teams from Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Croatia with the 2022 season beginning in December.
