FANSHAWE 1, ST. CLAIR 0

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's varsity soccer team continued their OCAA regular season schedule as they faced the top-ranked Fanshawe Falcons from London, Ont., on Saturday afternoon at the Main Campus Field in their final home game of the season.

The women came out on the short end of the match falling 1-0 in a fairly evenly played game. The Saints probably deserved a better fate in this match based on shot attempts and shots on goal, however, all the counts is the final score. In a scoreless first half, the Falcons had the edge in shot attempts 10-8, but the Saints had five shots on goal compared to two for Fanshawe.

Fanshawe took the lead in the 54th minute on a nice goal. St. Clair put the pressure on for the rest of the half but could not get the equalizer past the Falcon keeper. The Saints had 10 shot attempts compared to four for Fanshawe. St. Clair had six shots on goal while Fanshawe only had two. The Saints had four corner kicks in the match while the Falcons had none.

With the loss the Saints record fell to 4-2-1 on the season which is good for third place in the OCAA West Division. Fanshawe remained undefeated on the season improving to 7-0-0 on the year. The Fanshawe women are currently ranked third in Ontario and 10th in Canada. The St. Clair women are on the road on Tuesday night to take on the Lambton Lions in Sarnia, Ont.
