KITCHENER, Ont. - The St. Clair College volleyball teams opened up their OCAA regular season schedules this past weekend on the road.

Both the women and men got off to great starts as they defeated Mohawk College and Conestoga College.

On Friday night in Hamilton, the women defeated the Mohawk Mountaineers in a tight back and forth match 3-2. Game scores for St. Clair were 21-25, 26-24, 17-25, 25-23 and 18-16. The Saints were down late in the fourth set and faced two match points in the fifth set. Kaila Crough (Tecumseh) led the way offensively for St. Clair with 10 kills, one service ace and one stuff block. Chloe Stachow (Windsor) had a solid all around game with seven kills, one service ace, one stuff block and 12 digs. Libero Julie Ann Milling (Woodstock) was great as well with three assists and 18 digs.

On Saturday afternoon the women took down the Conestoga Condors 3-0 in Kitchener. The match was much closer than the score indicated with the set scores 25-23, 26-24 and 25-21 for St. Clair. Hanna Stewart (Woodstock) was the top offensive Saint with nine kills, three service aces and four digs. Rookie Te-Anna Stephenson (Whitby) was very good as well with seven kills on 10 attempts along with one service ace, one stuff block and four digs.

The St. Clair men beat Mohawk 3-0 on Friday night. Game scores for St. Clair were 25-22, 25-19 and 25-20. Manik Jandoria (Windsor) was the top Saint with 11 kills, two stuff blocks and four digs. Rrezart Sadiku (Toronto) had a solid match as well with five kills, four service aces, one stuff block and four digs.

On Saturday, the St. Clair men defeated the Conestoga Condors by a score of 3-1. Set scores for the Saints were 20-25, 25-23, 25-15 and 25-20. Michael Knight (LaSalle) has a huge game for St. Clair with 22 kills, one service ace, one stuff block and eight digs.

Both the men and women open up their OCAA home schedules on Saturday, Nov. 4 when they face the Humber Hawks at the SportsPlex. The women take to the floor at 6 p.m. followed by the men at 8 p.m. The matches will be live streamed on www.we-tv.ca.
