ST. CLAIR'S EL-TURK NAMED TO COACH NATIONAL TEAM

WINDSOR, Ont. - St. Clair College and the Department of Athletics are pleased to announce that women's volleyball head coach Jimmy El-Turk has been recently named by Volleyball Canada as assistant coach to the women's U18 junior national program.

The team will be training at Brock University starting on July 13 and then travel to Tulsa, Okla. for the United States Volleyball High Performance Championships from July 24-28, 2018.

El-Turk is very excited for this chance to represent his country.

"It is every athlete and coach's dream to be able to represent their country at an international competition and I am so honoured and grateful to be given this opportunity to represent Team Canada as an assistant coach with the junior national team. I am very lucky to be in a position to learn from and share with some of the best volleyball minds in Canada, as well as work with the best athletes in the country. I'm thankful for the opportunity and July can't come soon enough!"

"We are extremely excited for Jimmy to receive this amazing honour," stated St. Clair Athletic Director Christina Gatto. "Coach El-Turk has worked very hard for us the past three seasons and we are proud he has been chosen to represent our country and take part in this great professional development opportunity."

El-Turk has spent the last three seasons with the St. Clair program. This past season he guided the Saints to an OCAA bronze medal, the programs first medal in 21 years. Jimmy is a fully certified NCCP advanced development coach (Level II) and his currently working on his performance coach certification (Level III). El-Turk has also spent the past two summers working with the Ontario Volleyball Association coaching the Team Ontario U16 girls program.
