CONESTOGA WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL REPRESENTED ON CANADIAN NATIONAL TEAM COACHING STAFF

KITCHENER, Ont. - Conestoga College and the Department of Athletics are pleased to announce that women's volleyball head coach Haiqi "Chi" Liu will be an assistant coach with the Canadian senior women's volleyball national team this summer.

"We are extremely proud of Coach Liu for being selected as an assistant coach with the national program," stated Todd Erskine, Assistant Manager of Conestoga Athletics and Recreation. "This experience for him will greatly enhance our Condors Women's Volleyball program."

"I was excited to spend a short time with the program last season and was ecstatic to be asked to return in an official manner this summer," Liu remarked.

Coach Liu is no stranger to Canada's national team program as he served as assistant coach once before in 2014. He has been in Richmond, B.C., since May 6 for the national team selection camp and will be training out of the Richmond Olympic Oval for the duration of the summer.

The Canadian women's national team has recently qualified for the gold medal match against Puerto Rico in the NORCECA Women's Volleyball Continental Nations League Challenger Qualifying Tournament. Winning this tournament will see Canada move on to the Nationals League Challenger Finals in mid-June. The team will also be competing in the Pan American Cup in July, as well as touring Turkey and Italy in August. Their season will finish in Japan for the World Championships in October.

Coach Liu enters his second season at the helm of the Conestoga Condors women's volleyball program and is eager to see what the 2018-19 season yields for his determined team.
