GEORGIAN CROSS COUNTRY OPENS STRONG IN LONDON

LONDON, Ont. - The Georgian Grizzlies men's and women's cross country teams competed in their first event this season on Saturday during the Fanshawe Invitational in London, Ont.

First-year runner Adam Armstrong had an impressive debut in his first competition in the OCAA. The Barrie native was the top placing Georgian runner finishing in 18th place by completing the eight kilometre race in 29:49.

Overall the men's team finished in ninth place, a solid finish for a team with only two returning veterans.

The women's team had a consistent and strong run from Meaghan Evon (23rd), Courtney Sherk (24th) and Serafima Stilman (26th) who all finished within three seconds of each other. The strong effort helped lead the women's team to a fifth place finish during the five kilometre event.

Next up for the cross country teams will be competing at the Base Borden Run on Sunday, Sept. 25.
