ST. CLAIR WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY CAPTURE PROVINCIAL SILVER MEDAL

KING CITY, Ont. - The St. Clair College cross country team travelled to Seneca College's King City campus Saturday to compete in the OCAA provincial championship with the Saints women's team winning the silver medal amongst the 22 participating schools.

The Lady Saints were led by Meghan Howell (Harrow, Ont./Harrow District) who finished in eighth place over the five kilometre course in a time of 22:52 despite rolling an ankle on the very challenging terrain. Other team finishers included Beth Horrobin (12th place, 23:34), Hannah Cirino (13th place, 23:35), Aryana Cirino (24th place, 24:15), Toria Verbeek (32nd place, 24:45) and Abbey Rice (57th place, 26:39) in a field of 108 runners. Howell, Horrobin and Hannah Cirino were all named to the All-Ontario second-team. In addition, Howell was the winner of the Outstanding Female Sportsmanship Award.

The Saints men's team placed ninth out of 22 schools and were led by Ricky Nepomuceno (15th place, 29:08) over the eight kilometre course. Andrew Garant (42nd place, 31:48), Justin Folkeringa (48th place, 32:12), Jordan Root (55th place, 32:42) and Jason Kerr (86th place, 34:54) in a field of 120 runners. St. Clair's Ryan Bell was injured during the race and was unable to finish.

The women's team and Nepomuceno have qualified for the CCAA National Championship hosted by Sault College to be held at Crimson Ridge Golf Course in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., on Saturday, Nov. 12.
