EXCELLENT PERFORMANCES BY MOHAWK IN NATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY RACES

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - The Mohawk men were fifth and the women's team 13th, at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association cross country championships in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., on Saturday.

Mohawk had two runners in the Top 20 of the men's eight kilometre individual category, as Chris Caddey was 17th in 27:14 and Kyle Rooke finished 19th in 27:19.

Seth Marcaccio of Fanshawe won in 25:39.

There were 101 runners in the men's field.

The women's field was 103 in the women's five kilometre race and Mohawk's Sarah Beairsto finished in 11th place, with a time of 19:37.

The race was won by Jessy Lacourse from Cégep Garneau of Quebec City.

"I am very happy and proud of all my athletes that ran today," said Mohawk head coach Andre Simon. "They all ran exceptional races and came away with great results. It's been a very successful season, in which all the athletes put in a tremendous amount of work to achieve their fifth and 13th place."
