MARCACCIO WINS FANSHAWE MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY FIRST-EVER CCAA INDIVIDUAL GOLD

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - On Saturday afternoon at Sault College, the Fanshawe cross country team competed at the CCAA national championships.

On the men's side, lead runner Seth Marcaccio improved on his 2015 CCAA silver medal by becoming Fanshawe College's first-ever CCAA men's individual champion. Marcaccio completed the race in 25:39, a course record and a full 20 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. He was also named a CCAA All-Canadian. The team won the overall silver medal, also an improvement on last year's bronze. The team was comprised of Marcaccio, Ryan Foot (11th), Justin Attfield (22nd), Jordan Kadlecik (24th), Justin McNamara (41st), and Josh Heuving (42nd).
 
On the women's side, the Falcons had a fantastic race, coming in at sixth place and finishing as the top team from Ontario. Fanshawe's top runners Morgan Hendriks and Stacey Andrews finished in 19th and 27th, respectively. Other Falcons on the women's team included Breah Gordan (41st), Sami-Jo Burch (55th) and Alison Fernandes (99th).
