It appears almost everything Loui Legakis touches turns to gold; or pink if you ask his coaches regarding his choice of shoes.
"Loui was like having a coach on the pitch," glowed head coach Stephen O'Kane. "He dictated the pace of the game and led every offensive run."
The outstanding men's soccer midfielder had a stellar 2006
season collecting numerous honours including being named as an
integral part of the top defensive team in the league, an East
region all-star, an OCAA tournament MVP, CCAA tournament MVP and
was also named as a CCAA all-Canadian, all while playing a position
that is rarely acknowledged on the score sheet.
With his passion for the game, it was recognized early in the
season by his athletic director, Ron Port that
something special was evident.
"What makes Loui special is his ability to lead by demonstrating
his passion for the game of soccer during both practices and
games," recalled Port. "Loui and his teammates made me as the
athletic director confident this team was going to be something
special. After watching numerous practice sessions and exhibition
games I was certain that I, along with our fans, were going to be
in for an unforgettable season."
In his three-year career in the OCAA, Loui has written an athletic
resume no other has. To date, he has captured an OCAA silver medal,
two OCAA gold medals and is the only soccer player in OCAA history
to have captured two CCAA national championship titles.
