1999-2000 OCAA FEMALE ATHLETES OF THE YEAR - MELANIE FINLEY & GABE ROY

Melanie Finley and Gabe Roy have dominated the OCAA women's doubles badminton scene for the past two seasons. They have compiled a two-year record of 28-2 and have every award available to collegiate badminton players.

This past season, they completed an undefeated season, collected a CCAA national title, a provincial championship, an OCAA regional championship and three separate invitational tournament titles. These add to their national silver medals, provincial gold, regional gold and three invitational tournament titles during the 1998-99 season.

Gabe and Melanie have also just accepted their second consecutive Cambrian College athlete of the year awards.

Cambrian College athletic direcor Bob Piche had this to say about Gabe and Melanie, "Their hard work, dedication and involvement has helped to make them a dominant force in OCAA badminton. They are outstanding individuals who positively represent themselves, Cambrian College an the OCAA."
