Mohawk found the silver lining to its trip to nationals, advancing to the championship finale before losing 7-4 to OCAA rival Fanshawe. With a 3-4 record, Mohawk did enough in the round robin to advance to the medal round. Mohawk upset top-seeded Red Deer (6-1) in the semi-final stealing a triple in the seventh end and a deuce in the eighth to send the Mountaineers onto the gold medal game.
