Sarah Hazlewood enjoyed a successful five-year career with the Algonquin Thunder women's volleyball program.

Accolades were not uncommon during Sarah's playing days. In 2003-04, she was named the OCAA Rookie of the Year. From 2004-05 to 2007-08, the Thunder were OCAA East regional champions with Hazlewood as the Team Captain. In 2004-05 and 2005-06, she was selected as an OCAA Second-Team League All-Star. In 2006-07 and 2007-08, she was selected as an OCAA First-Team League All-Star.

Sarah was noted for her leadership qualities during her playing days. She began her coaching career as an assistant with the Thunder in 2009-10 until 2012-13. She also coached at the club level in Ottawa, Ont.
