Category: Builder
Institution: Seneca College
Inducted: 2003

On three different occasions, Bonnie Bacvar was a member of the OCAA Executive Committee (1975-1977, 1979-1981 and 1995-1996) and helped build the foundation for a strong organization.

In particular, Bacvar provided a vision that promised a future for women as leaders, athletes and coaches in the OCAA. In 1984, Bacvar chaired the Women's Sport Development Committee; a committee that successfully enhanced the women's programs offered in the OCAA.

During a time when women's sport was developing in the OCAA, Bacvar pushed for women's teams in basketball, volleyball and hockey. She was also instrumental in the formation of the Ontario Coalition of Women in Education and Athletics (OCWEA) which raised the respect for the OCAA within the school sport sector.

In 1999, the OCAA recognized Bonnie Bacvar's contributions with the presentation of a Shield Award.
