Bruce Brereton has been credited with and is considered the driving force behind the start of the Georgian College varsity ski and tennis teams.

He coached the ski team from the 1971-72 to 1983-84 seasons. He coached the Grizzlies to the women's team title in 1979-80, the men's team title in 1980-81, and the women's individual championship in 1980-81.

Brereton's teams captured men's team silver in 1977-78, men's team bronze in 1978-79, men's individual silver in 1979-80, and the women's individual bronze in 1979-80.
