VINCE DRAKE

Category: Builder
Institution: George Brown College
Inducted: 2003

Vince Drake was one of the pioneers of the OCAA and served as Athletic Director at George Brown College when it became one of the original seven founding members of the association. Drake's early involvement brought him into the role of Convenor for the sport of Judo in 1967-68 and 1968-69, and for both men's and women's volleyball in 1972-73.

Drake coached George Brown's men's basketball teams to three consecutive OCAA gold medals from 1974-1976 and Ontario's first national title in 1975. OCAA Hall of Famer athletes Marvin Snowden and Val Pozzan were part of those teams that lost only one game in Canada in three years.

Known for this athletic prowess, Drake had a stint with the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles, before coming to Canada to quarterback the Montreal Alouettes.

In 1986, Drake's contributions to the OCAA were recognized, as he was presented with a Shield Award.
