Pat Gavey competed for the Mohawk Mountaineers golf team from 1989 to 1992. During his tenure he led Mohawk to a OCAA team championship in 1991.

Along with his team achievement Gavey was awarded the OCAA men's individual silver medal that same year to go along with his bronze medal he earned in 1989.

Gavey was inducted into the Mohawk College Hall of Fame in 2007. Gavey was named a member of the OCAA Golf All-Millennium Team.
