Bob Weepers was hired at St. Clair College in the very first year of its existence in 1967 as Inter-Collegiate Coordinator of Athletics.

During his 31 years before his retirement from St. Clair, he steered the varsity programs including men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, badminton, tennis, cross-country, golf, track and field, men's and women's volleyball, hockey, curling, judo, riflery, bowling, tennis and table tennis. He was also coach of the women's basketball team from 1977-83 for six seasons and helped earn two silver and two bronze OCAA medals.

A quiet demeanour and a gentle soul, Bob never craved the spotlight but meticulously guided the varsity programs at St. Clair College. Nearing his retirement the St. Clair athletic department began awarding the 'Bob Weepers' Fair Play and Sportsmanship award for varsity athletes that truly represent the integrity and ethics that Bob displayed in his time at St. Clair.

Introduced in 1995-96, this award recognizes student-athletes who reflect the true spirit of sport through their exemplary commitment to sportsmanship, fair play and teamwork. This award is named in honour of Bob Weepers, long time Athletic Coordinator, for his commitment and contributions to the Athletic Programs of St. Clair College.
