The George Brown Huskies (5-3) added two wins to their record on Wednesday night (Sept 14), sweeping the Sheridan Bruins (2-8) at home in a double header at Christie Pits.

HOW IT HAPPENED - GM1: 1st Year pitcher Nathan Long (2-1) got the call to the mound for the Huskies in Game 1 of the evening's double header. Long was in full control of the game from his first pitch to last. Facing 21 batters over five innings, he struck out four, walked two and gave up only three hits in the contest on route to the Huskies 12-0 win.

Long was also well supported at the plate, with Brendan Nolet (1st Year), Tyler Romandel (2nd Year) and Noah Macdonald (1st Year) each recording a double on the evening. The three also combined for eight of the Huskies 12 runs on the night.

The game was called after 5 innings following the league Mercy Rule.

HOW IT HAPPENED - GM2: In Game 2 of the double header, Sheridan capitalized early on a few Huskies fielding errors to take a quick 4-0 lead after their half of the 1st inning. The Huskies would notch one in the bottom of the frame off a Brendan Nolet RBI single that scored Kyle Bandura (2nd Year).

In the fourth inning, the Bruins would add two more, increasing their lead to 6-1. But George Brown would counter with one of their own in the bottom half of the inning on a Tyler Romandel RBI double that scored Daniel Farrace (2nd Year).

Following a scoreless fifth, the sixth inning was all Huskies, where the home squad exploded for 11 runs off of 11 hits. The Huskies started their scoring spree on a bases loaded RBI single by Tyler Romandel, his ninth RBI of the season. Braeden Tremblay followed with a 2-run RBI double, scoring Farrace and Christopher Peters (2nd Year). Three bases loaded walks from the Bruins pitching staff would also add to the Huskies big inning, and they would take a commanding 13-6 lead into the seventh and final frame.

Sheridan tallied two runs in the final inning to close the gap to 13-8, but that is as close as they would come.

UP NEXT: George Brown looks to build on their 3-game winning streak as they play host to the Sault College Cougars (2-6) this weekend at Wishing Well Park. First pitch of Game 1 is scheduled for 3pm on Saturday September 24th. Can't make the game? Watch all the action live on our Livestream Channel!
