Sica Nets Three in Knights 4-1 Win Over Fanshawe

October 2, 2022...WELLAND - The Niagara Knights women's soccer team soared to a 4-1 win over the visiting Fanshawe Falcons yesterday afternoon at Youngs Sportsplex. The Falcons were searching for their first win of the season, while the Knights were looking to bounce back from a heartbreaking loss to Mohawk last Friday in Hamilton.

Fanshawe found the back of the net first with a goal at the 12 minute mark on a goal from Taylor Cameron before Niagara responded within a minute on a brilliant goal from Rylan Greatrix to mark her fourth of the season.

Less than a minute later the Knights were awarded a penalty kick that Sydney Sica put past the Fanshawe keeper to take a 2-1 lead.

Sica would add another before the end of the half to give the Knights a cushiony lead heading in to the second half.

The Knights continued to pressure the Falcons in their end before Sica eventually scored her third of the day, and secured a 4-1 lead with just 10 minutes remaining.

The blue and white secured their fifth win of the year and improve to 5-2 while Fanshawe drops to 0-4.

Next up for the Knights will be a road trip to Redeemer (2-2-2) on Wednesday at 8:00pm, before returning home for their final home game of the year against St. Clair at 6:00pm
