OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham Lords women's basketball team continued their rise up the east division standings on Friday night with a 70-37 win over the Georgian Grizzlies.
Sill undefeated in 2019, the Lords are proving that their three-game skid in November is well behind them. During their current six-game tear they have outscored the opposition 419-295.
Right from the tip off, Durham came out of the gate by burying the Grizzlies in a massive 20-1 hole. Just when Georgian was showing vital signs in the second quarter, going on a 7-0 run, the Lords just as quickly shut it down by responding with their own 13-0 run. From this point on, the Lords were comfortably in control, their lead never falling below double digits and expanding to us much as 35 points.
The Grizzlies will undoubtedly see
Marie Stasiuk (Cobourg, Ont.) in their nightmares. The first-year forward was a one-woman wrecking crew, racking up a triple-double – yet another achievement on her already excellent season.
On Tuesday, Feb. 5 the Seneca Sting roll into the Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre. In their previous meeting this season, the Lords triumphed 75-62. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
•
Marie Stasiuk's triple-double led the Lords, consisting of 22 points, 10 steals and 12 rebounds.
• The Lords were also boosted by
Dekota Kirby (Markham, Ont.), who tallied 11 points.

• Keisha Arthurworry (Oshawa, Ont.) and
