Box Score TORONTO, Ont. – Not only did the Durham College women's volleyball team stay undefeated with their victory over George Brown on Saturday, but they are now up four points on the Algonquin Thunder for first place.
Heading into the match the Lords only difference with Algonquin was one game, their 3-2 victory over the Thunder on October 28. With Durham defeating George Brown 3-0 (25-17, 25-8, 25-19) and the Thunder falling 3-1 to Loyalist on Saturday, now the Lords have a four-point spread.
Coincidentally, the two teams will meet again next Saturday in Ottawa.
Shannon Dean (Whitby, Ont.) had a match-high 15 points in Durham's win over George Brown, picking up nine kills, five aces and a block.
Allison Marshall (Orillia, Ont.), who is tied with Dean for points per set with 4.0 and leads the team in kills with 3.20 per set, finished a match-high 12 against George Brown.
Rounding out the offence were
Erinn Marshall (Orillia, Ont.) and
Jessica Joensen (Pickering, Ont.) with six and five kills respectively.
Megan Romain (Ajax, Ont.) and
Camille Lefaive (Whitby, Ont.) shared the setting duties, with a combined 25 assists.
Next weekend the Lords are in Ottawa for a Saturday meeting with the Algonquin Thunder. They wrap up the weekend with a Sunday matinee match against the La Cité Coyotes.
