Women's Basketball Opens Season With Win at Redeemer, 98-69

ANCASTER – Humber women's basketball opened the 2019 season with a big road victory over the Redeemer Royals, 98-69. Ivana Twumasi and Miea Campbell-Johnson paced six Humber players to score in double figures, as the Hawks forced the Royals into 34 turnovers.

Senior Jahnae Gyles opened the scoring for Humber, as the two teams exchanged baskets for the first six minutes of the game. The Hawks ended the quarter on a 15-0 run, taking a 17-point lead after ten minutes of play and never looked back.

Twumasi and Campbell-Johnson finished with 17 points each, while freshman Kia Watt finished with 16 points and a game-high seven steals. Brittney English added 14 points, while Teija Wareham and Jahnae Gyles rounded out Humber's double-digit scorers with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

National champion point guard Felicia Velasquez returned to Humber's lineup and dished out a game-high 12 assists in the win.
