OSHAWA, Ont. – As part of Wednesday's Durham College women's softball doubleheader on Rowan's Law Day, the Theriault family presented the second annual Gerry Theriault Memorial Bursary.
Ashley Black (Waterloo, Ont.) and
Sarah Seifried (Drayton, Ont.) were named the two recipients of the award, which was presented in Gerry's honour between games against the Seneca Sting at Durham Field.
The Lords won the opening game 9-2 before a 15-0 victory in the second half of the doubleheader.
Gerry, the late husband of assistant softball coach
Rosemary Theriault, was an avid supporter and longtime volunteer with the Durham Lords program. His generous and unconditional volunteer efforts were a tremendous part of the program's behind-the-scenes success.
Not only an exceptional volunteer, but he was an exception person. His love and respect for the game both on and off the field were always present, qualities that are looked for in the recipient(s) of the bursary on an annual basis.
