Sting Suffer Third Straight Loss

Sting Suffer Third Straight Loss

The Seneca Sting fell to the La Cité Coyotes in straight sets 21-25, 19-25, 16-25 to fall to 2-9 on the season.

Although it starts every rally, serving played a larger role than in most matches this season. The Coyotes recorded 11 aces as a team, including 5 by Ariane Proulx while the Sting were only able to get 3 serves past the visting Coyotes. The Coyotes missed 11 serves in the match while the Sting had 6 which failed to find the playing court.

With the Coyotes making the four hour trip earlier in the day and the Sting having played less than twenty hours earlier, both teams started slow. The Sting had a number of defensive miscues while the Coyotes missed their first two serves of the match. Tied 9-9, the Coyotes began to pull away from the home team to capture the opening set.

The middle set saw the Sting lead for the majority of the set. Up 15-12, the Sting saw their lead evaporate at 17-17 before falling behind for good to fall behind 0-2 in the match.

The Coyotes played their best volleyball in the third set, leading from the onset before closing out the match on a missed serve by the Sting.

The Sting were led by Nicole Boyd (5 kills, 11 digs) and Zoe Rath (4 kills, 7 digs). Gen Potovzky finished with 15 assists and 10 digs. Gabrielle Wicks' two blocks were the lone blocks for the Sting.

Proulx was the offensive leader for the Coyotes, finishing with 10 kills and adding 10 digs. Vanessa Laporte had 8 kills and 12 digs. Marilou Charron recorded 28 assists and 11 digs and Anne-Sophie Henrie had a match-high 23 digs.
