LANCERS FALL TO HUSKIES IN SEASON OPENER

The Lancers opened the season with a hard-fought 2-0 loss to the George Brown Huskies on Friday night.

Playing in front of a packed Friday Night Lights crowd, the Lancers dominated the first 5 minutes of play with great possessions and numerous scoring opportunities. Despite the early push, the Lancers found themselves down 1 after 25 minutes when Huskies' forward Brianna Samuels-McLaughin netted her first of the game.

With the Lancers fighting to tie the match, they upped their physicality and proved they're not a team to be taken lightly. First year athletes Tiffany Moore (Trenton,ON) , Kyla Fallow (Belleville, ON), Emily Postma (Carrying Place, ON), Kelsey Lawrence (Consecon, ON) and second year player Kate Marois all stepped up in a big way and turned in stellar performances.

Samuels-McLaughin scored her second of the night at the 55th minute to put the Huskies up 2-0 early in the second half.

The Lancers continued to play tough at both ends of the field with smart defensive moves and aggressive offense. They created several great scoring opportunities with only minutes left to go in the game but ultimately fell 2-0 to the Huskies.

The Lancers hit the road to take on the Seneca Sting on September 13th, the Algonquin Thunder on the 17th and Fleming Knights on the 22nd before coming home to face the Durham Lords on September 28th.
