Mohawk Mountaineers women's basketball stayed competitive in an 89-73 loss to the Conestoga Condors, but their efforts came up short in the end.

The Mountaineers found themselves in an early deficit after the first 10 minutes, but were able to close the first half only trailing by seven points. However, the second half saw Conestoga continue to pull away instead of Mohawk making the game closer.

Co-head coach Mihai Raducanu attributed the loss to a lack of cohesiveness as a team.

"We (didn't) play as a unit," Raducanu said. "We didn't react with a sense of urgency and when we don't do that, we won't play well."

Angong Jacob (Calgary, AB), this past weeks Mountaineers Athlete of the Week, led Mohawk with 14 points off the bench. Mohawk once again had a balanced approach on offense with four different players scoring at least 10 points.

The Mountaineers coaching staff believes that their depth is one of the team's biggest strengths.

"We trust every single one of our players and we feel like we have one of the deepest benches in the league," said Raducanu.

Mohawk heads down the QEW next to play the Niagara Knights on Nov. 24 at 6 p.m.
