PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - Heading into the OCAA crossover tournament in Peterborough this weekend, the Durham College women's rugby team picked up two big wins over opponents from the OCAA west division on Saturday afternoon.
Durham began their day with a convincing 20-5 victory over the Sheridan Bruins. Arriving on the scene as an offensive force in the team's first tournament of the season two weeks ago in Belleville,
Kaylah Moehling (Port Colborne, Ont.) continued to shine with two more tries in the morning win.
Glory Ezeude (Vaughan, Ont.) and 2018 team MVP
Victoria Browne (Pickering, Ont.) rounded out the scoring for the Lords in the Game 1 win.
Facing a challenging test in Game 2 against Seneca, Durham delivered a thrilling one point victory, dropping the Sting by a final score of 22-21. Every point mattered in the tightly contested finale to the day for the Lords. Moehling added another single try and a convert to lift her total points in the two matches to 17. Meanwhile, both Ezeude and Browne also found the try zone for individual scores again, while
Danielle Belanger (Courtice, Ont.) registered a try in the Lords victory as well.
The Lords are currently first place in the OCAA east with a record of 5-1. They will continue to be challenged by their western opponents tomorrow as they face off with the undefeated Humber Hawks following a morning tilt against the Conestoga Condors.
