Box Score NORTH YORK, Ont. – Although the odds were in their favour, the Durham College women's volleyball team made a statement as they earned home court for their OCAA crossover match on Saturday.
The Lords swept the Seneca Sting 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-17) in their second meeting of the season to win the 2017-18 series.
It was a team effort as
Jessica Joensen (Pickering, Ont.) had the team-high six kills, followed closely by
Allyson Terwillegar (Enniskillen, Ont.) and
Althea Boncheff (Alliston, Ont.) with five apiece.
Sarah Rayment (Whitby, Ont.) had the match-high three blocks. Every Lord that touched the court in the match, minus libero
Devyn Fraser (Uxbridge, Ont.), had at least a kill in the match.
For Seneca, Amy Sayaveth finished with the match-high eight kills.
The last time Durham played in a crossover game to qualify for the OCAA championship was 2015 when they travelled to St. Clair.
This time around they will host the Mohawk Mountaineers. The two teams have met twice this year in exhibition play at the Niagara Invitational and Durham College Adidas Cup. In both matches the Mountaineers won 3-1.
First serve for the crossover match will be 1 p.m. at the CRWC on Saturday, Feb. 17.
