MEN’S BASKETBALL PUSH LATE TO PREVAIL OVER LA CITE
Tyler Vanessen, Jaan Bukhari and Nikyle Williams-McIntosh led a big fourth quarter to give the Grizzlies the win and first in the east.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's basketball team hosted the La Cite Coyotes on Saturday afternoon at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
It was a back and forth game throughout but it was the fourth quarter that was the difference.
Georgian got some clutch shooting in the fourth quarter from Nikyle Williams-Mcintosh (Newmarket), Tyler Vanessen (Whitby) and Jaan Bukhari (Newmarket).
The trio combined for 59 of the teams 85 points in the game including 16 of Georgian's 22 fourth quarter scoring. Vanessen had a team-high 21 points, Bukhari had 20 and Williams-McIntosh had 18 in the game.
The Grizzlies improved their record to 4-1 on the season and they currently in first overall in the OCAA east division standings.
Both the men's and women's teams will play be back in action next Friday, Nov. 8 when they host the Seneca Sting at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
