Knights Women Go 1-1 in Weekend Play

February 21, 2022 - The Niagara Knights women's volleyball team split their weekend games with one win and one loss to move to 2-2 on the season.

The Knights knew they had their work cut out for them on Thursday night at home with the nationally ranked Mohawk Mountaineers rolling into town.

The opening set proved to be a thriller with the Knights rising to the challenge and trading point for point with Mohawk, that eventually ended with Niagara surprising the Mountaineers with a 31-29 set one win.

The Mountaineers stormed back in the second set with a 18-25 win, and would go on to take the next two sets (20-25,20-25) to go on to the 1-3 win over Niagara.

The Knights traveled to Conestoga Sunday afternoon looking to get back in the win column after losing two in a row (Cambrian 0-3 February 12th).

Niagara easily handled the Condors in set one with a lopsided 25-8 win, setting the tone for the afternoon. The Condors, however, weren't going down without a fight through the second and third sets, rallying to keep it close with the Knights. The blue and white prevailed with a 25-20 and 28-26 win to sweep the Condors 3-0 and earn their second win of the season.

The Knights will spend their next three games on the road starting with the struggling Bruins Sheridan (0-3) on Wednesday before completing their eastern road swing at Fanshawe (3-2) and St. Clair (3-2) Saturday and Sunday.

Niagara now sits at 2-2 for the 2021-2022 season.
