Strong Second Half Lifts No. 8 Women's Basketball Over Niagara, 95-55

ETOBICOKE — No.8 Humber women's basketball rebounded off its first loss of the season, defeating the Niagara Knights (1-12, 9th West), 95-55, Thursday evening, at the North Campus Gym.

Miea Campbell-Johnson was a standout for Humber in the win, as she recorded her second double-double of the season on 17 points, 13 rebounds, two assists and two blocks.

Humber took control early in the first quarter as they quickly jumped out to a 20-8 lead over the visiting Knights. Niagara would fight there way back into the game, going on a 13-4 run to end the quarter, as Humber took a one-possession lead into the second.

The following quarter would be all Humber as they dominated on both ends of the floor outscoring Niagara 23-7 in the quarter. The Hawks held the Knights to just two made baskets in the second as they shot just two-of-22 (9.1 percent) from the field. For their part, the Hawks shot nine-of-20 (45.0 percent) in the quarter as they took an 18-point lead into the half.

It would again be all Humber to start the second half, as they opened the third quarter with a 15-4 run putting the game well out of reach. Eight different Hawks scored in the quarter as the balanced attack led to 22 points on 10-of-18 (55.6 percent) shooting in the third.

With the game now well in hand, Humber turned to their reserves to close out the game. Fourth-year guard Jessica Daniel led the way off the bench, as she poured in all of her 15 points on the night in the fourth quarter alone.  With the sound of the final buzzer, Humber rolled to their thirteenth win on the season taking this one, 95-55.
